Safeguarding at Little Kingshill Combined School
At Little Kingshill Combined School, the health, safety and well-being of every child are our paramount concern. We listen to our pupils and take seriously what they tell us. Our aim is for children to enjoy their time as pupils in this school. We want to work in partnership with you to help your child achieve their full potential and make a positive contribution.
To promote a safe environment for pupils, our selection and recruitment policy includes all checks on staff and regular volunteers’ suitability, including Disclosure and Barring Service checks, as recommended by Buckinghamshire Council in accordance with current legislation.
In accordance with our responsibilities under section 175/157 of the Education Act 2002 and “Keeping Children Safe in Education“ 2016, we have a Designated Safeguarding Lead for Child Protection (Mr Dodd) who is the Head Teacher and a member of the senior management team and has received appropriate training for this role. If he is not available, please contact Mr Foster or Mrs Gudka, both of whom are trained Designated Safeguarding Officers. It is their responsibility to ensure that all staff in contact with children receive child protection awareness training on a regular basis. Please speak to any of these staff if you have any safeguarding issues relating to children in the school.
Occasions do arise when our concern about a child means we have to consult other agencies. Whilst we would always aim to work in partnership with parents there may be exceptions to this when concerns are raised for the protection of a child. On very rare occasions Social Care, whilst undertaking an investigation under S47 of the Children Act 1989, may want to speak to a child without the parents’ knowledge. This would be a decision made in collaboration with partner agencies and would only be done in situations where a child might be at immediate risk. To gain consent at this point may increase the level of risk to the child or cause evidence of a crime to be lost.

Always be careful when you are using the internet. It can help you to keep in touch with your friends and help your education – but it can also cause harm to you and to others.
Remember help is always available at school if you are having any problems online.
Don’t be afraid to talk to your teacher or another adult at school.

Tips for staying safe online:
Make sure you keep new online friends strictly online. If someone you don't know asks to be your online friend you must ensure an adult knows about it.
Know how to use the CEOP Button and how to report it to the CEOP Centre if you are concerned about someone’s online behaviour towards you.
Road Safety: car drivers and access to school
To ensure maximum safety for the children, parents are asked to cross at the designated crossing area using our School Crossing Warden and access the school through the green pedestrian gate. Parents are not permitted to use the main or village hall car park entrance at any time.
Security
All visitors to school are asked to report to the main school office to sign in and out. Visitors’ badges must be worn. Pupils arriving or leaving outside of the usual hours must also be signed in or out. Mobile phones owned by visitors should be turned off or handed in to the school office for safe-keeping throughout the period of the visit.
