Welcome to FOLKS!

FOLKS – Friends of Little Kingshill School is our school PTA and a registered charity run by parents, with support from the school.

Our aim is simple: to bring our school community together, create brilliant experiences for our children and raise money for the extras that make school life even better.

From playground equipment and Forest School to workshops, school trips and improvements around the school, the money raised by our families goes straight back into supporting the children of Little Kingshill.

And, of course, we like to have plenty of fun along the way!

FOLKS is led by a small committee of parents who work closely with the school, our fantastic Class Reps and a brilliant group of parent volunteers.

We're always happy to welcome new faces, ideas and offers of help, you don't need to be on the committee to be part of FOLKS.

 

What Does FOLKS Fund?

The money raised by FOLKS helps pay for experiences, equipment and improvements that sit outside the school's core budget.

Over the years, your support has helped fund:

• New playground equipment
• Forest School
• The school kitchen
• Improvements to the Reception outdoor area
• Immersive workshops and experiences, including African Drumming, Break Dancing, the Dome Experience and even a visit from a real-life Gladiator!
• Contributions towards school technology, helping give our children access to the technology and digital resources that support learning in the classroom.

Every ticket bought, cake donated, event attended and hour volunteered helps us do more for the school.

 

Fundraising – With a Little Fun Along the Way!

Fundraising doesn't have to mean simply asking for donations.

Throughout the year, FOLKS organises events and activities that give children, parents and families the chance to get together and enjoy being part of the Little Kingshill community.

Christmas Festivities • Festival on the Field • Movie Nights • School Discos • Wellness Evenings • Panto Trips • Legoland Trips • Cake Sales • Frozen Fridays • Pizza & Hot Dog Lunches • Coffee Mornings

By joining in, you're not only helping us raise money, you're helping create some great school memories too.

 

Fancy Getting Involved?

FOLKS is completely volunteer-powered and even a little bit of your time can make a big difference.

You don't need to commit to every event or give up hours of your week. We might need someone to help set up for 30 minutes, serve refreshments, run a stall or lend a hand at one of our bigger events.

You choose when and how you'd like to help.

There is absolutely no obligation to volunteer. When we need an extra pair of hands, we'll post in the group and you can simply help whenever it suits you.

Save money, reduce waste and support FOLKS at the same time.

Jumpers and cardigans can be ordered online, with other items including shorts, trousers, skirts and summer dresses available by contacting our uniform team.

Good-quality uniform donations are always welcome too.

Clear Out Your Wardrobe

Don't forget the textile bank outside the school gates. Old clothes, linen, paired shoes and handbags can all help raise funds for the school.

 

Does Your Employer Offer Match Funding?

Some employers will match money raised by employees for registered charities, potentially doubling the amount raised at an event.

If your company offers charity match funding, grants, gifts, books or other support for schools, we'd love to hear from you.

We're also always grateful for raffle and event prizes from local businesses and families.
