Little Kingshill Combined School

At Little Kingshill Combined School we hold their hand, take them to the edge and watch them fly

About the school

Little Kingshill Combined School serves the village of Little Kingshill and the surrounding catchment area, with a proportion of our pupils coming from beyond, from the town of High Wycombe. In 2011, Ofsted confirmed that the school provides an outstanding standard of education from three to eleven years of age.

The school has grown from a small Chiltern’s village school, established in 1887, to the present combined school which, along with an attached Nursery, now has 240 children on roll. The main school now resides in separate modern blocks. The Nursery class is situated in the original Victorian building. However, liaison between Nursery and Reception teachers is very close, meaning the transition from Nursery to Reception is seamless and the children settle quickly into life at school.

The Village Hall is incorporated into the school site. The school uses it during the day and the local community uses it during evenings and weekends.

The school is organised in three stages:
• Foundation Stage is Nursery class to the end of Reception (ages 3-5)
• Key Stage 1 (KS1) encompasses Year 1 and Year 2 (ages 5-7)
• Key Stage 2 (KS2) covers classes from Year 3 to Year 6 (ages 7-11)

Classes throughout the main school are organised as by year group. The Reception classes have a teaching assistant throughout the teaching day, while we have teaching assistants who are located to each of the remaining classes in the school.

The school bell is rung at 8.45 am. The children line up in their class groups. Registration is at 8.50 am. Children should not arrive before 8.35am as the school has no legal responsibility for children before then. At the end of the school day, the KS1 children are brought to the playground by their teachers so that they can be handed over to the collecting adult.

School lunch is from 12.00 noon until 1.00 pm. The children have a choice of a range of high quality cooked lunches or they may bring in a packed lunch, either of which they eat in the school hall under supervision. Parents are encouraged to ensure that lunch boxes are healthy and nutritious.
