Pastoral care

Do not hesitate to contact us if there is any matter on which you would welcome assistance or if you are concerned in any way. The normal procedure is to contact your child’s class teacher in the first instance. It would be very much appreciated if an appointment could be made for the end of the day and any urgent information to be passed on to the school office first thing in the morning as teachers are busy preparing for the day and their time is limited. The Headteacher is always delighted to meet parents, although a prior telephone call to the school office to arrange an appointment is also greatly appreciated.

There are two parents’ evenings, one in the Autumn Term and one in the Spring Term, when parents can discuss their child’s progress. A written report is sent to parents in the Summer Term. An Open Evening is also held in the Summer Term when parents can view work throughout the whole school and watch performances by the children.

Evening Meetings are held during the school year to keep parents informed on important issues, e.g. 11+, SATS, residential visits and on other relevant curriculum issues.

A termly letter is sent by class teachers to parents advising them of curriculum topics to be covered, PE/Games days and other relevant information. In addition, there is a weekly information letter for Reception and KS1. A regular weekly newsletter is sent out by the Headteacher to keep parents in touch with what is happening at school.
