Our aim is to raise funds in order to provide enhanced facilities and equipment for our children. Through organising social events and fundraising activities, we aim to promote a sense of community amongst those associated with the school and in the local area. We run a variety of events throughout the school year in order to offer something for everyone, and we look forward to you joining in.
FOLKS has a committee made up from all of our associates, including parents, governors and staff, and together we plan the calendar of events and each individual activity, however the smooth-running of the events also depends on having plenty of other people willing to offer a little time to come and help. More information on the current FOLKS committee members can be found here.
New committee members are elected by parents at the AGM, held at the beginning of each school year, however we really do consider every adult involved with the school to be a part of our team. If you have a specific talent or are interested in joining the committee meetings, we would love to hear from you at friendsofLKS@gmail.com.
Last year we raised £15368.24 and the larger items we spent money on included three new interactive touch screen white boards and projectors, several theatre and educational visits to the school, new educational playground toys, and an upgrade to the KS1 reading area. We also worked with local organisation ‘Sweet Charity’ to secure funding for a new PA system, and have done again already this academic year to be awarded new branded netball and football kits.
Our two big fund raising events are the Christmas and Summer fayres, but we also organise events such as discos, cake sales and hot dog days for the children, in addition to adult quiz nights and last year a May Ball was hosted at the Crown Plaza in Marlow. We produce regular newsletters to keep you updated with what is coming up but also have a calendar of events for the year. More information on our FOLKS events can be found here.
If you have any good ideas for fund-raising, we would love to hear about them and enjoy hearing your views on the events run and how these all important funds are spent! We are always looking for sponsors for events or donors of raffle prizes, so if you work for a local business (or own one) that might be interested in supporting the community and receiving advertising in this way, please let us know.
Please don’t forget to make any online purchases through easyfundraising. There are a huge range of retailers, it really is easy & there is no cost! You can shop with your favourite online stores and raise funds for FOLKS at no extra cost. You still shop directly with each retailer as you would normally, but simply by using the links each purchase you make will generate a donation to FOLKS. There is also a handy toolbar which can be downloaded to your PC to remind you each time you visit a supporting retailer.
We hope you enjoy your association.
