Science is taught throughout the school with a strong emphasis on practical work. Through Science, the children are taught to understand the world in which we live and to develop the skills of scientific exploration and investigation. In line with National Curriculum requirements, scientific enquiry is taught at KS1 and KS2 through contexts taken from life processes and living things, materials and their properties and physical processes.
In the Early Years, Science is based on the Foundation Stage Curriculum. The emphasis is on a first-hand experience and fundamental skills of observation and communication. Good use is made of the local environment and trips are organised to support work in Science at all levels.
